March 8, 2014

Tonight we had reservations to take a class at For Your Kitchen on Cafe Rio style cooking sweet rice and pork.  Roger and Amanda spent the day refinishing the kitchen table while I worked on school work.  By late afternoon we were all exhausted.  It has been a busy week and Roger just really didn't want to go out again.  Last night we bought the second Thor and Hunger Games movies so we decided to stay in tonight, make some popcorn and just relax.

March 7, 2014 Dinner and Home and Garden Show

Tonight after work Roger, Amanda and I went to dinner at Sweet Tomato then went to South Towne Expo for the Home and Garden show.  We were at the expo about three hours until we were exhausted and ready to head home.  It has been a busy week this week but it was fun to get out.  We always like to dream a little about our home and yard.

February 28, 2014 Bill Cosby

Tonight we went to Kingsbury Hall to see Bill Cosby!
We went out to dinner with Roger's dad, sister Barbara and her daughter Jackie who were in town visiting.  Amanda went to my Melissa's house for the evening and stayed the night and came home Saturday evening, so we had the morning and most of the day Saturday all to ourselves.  A nice little break.
I enjoyed the Bill Cosby show.  Roger mostly did, but had trouble with his knees and sitting in those seats so he walked out a little early.  The show started at 8pm and went until 10:30pm.  A little longer than he could hold out.

February 17, 2014 President's Day & a Movie

Roger woke up early this morning and went to work, I had the day off.  Amanda and I did a few things around the house and then did school work.  Roger ended up getting off work early so he came home.
Amanda had to be at work at 1pm, so we dropped her off and went back out to Layton to the AMC theater for our free show.  Finally, we were able to get into a show, although not the show we wanted.  We had gone to go see Monument Men but ended up watching Robo Cop instead.  It was alright.  Since we were early for the show, we walked around the Layton Hills Mall for a little bit.

February 22, 2014 Kelly, Amanda, Molly, Noah

This afternoon I took Amanda, Molly, and Noah with me to the Safe Kids Fair at the Southtowne Expo center where I was running a booth and obstacle course.  Mostly they played and looked around while I worked.
Afterwards I took the kids to a gymnastics meet at the University of Utah against Oregon State.  Molly really loves gymnastics and I knew she would really have a good time.  I was glad Amanda seemed to have a good time as well.  Noah enjoyed a good amount of it, but soon grew tired and was ready to go.  I relented to letting him play a game on my cell phone for the last 15-20 minutes of the show.
On our way home we stopped for ice cream sundae's at McDonalds and talked about our day.  I had a great time with the kids.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, not really sure), Roger stayed home by himself all day.  He wasn't really interested in coming, as I knew he wouldn't be.  We left at noon and didn't get back until almost 10pm.  He said he had things to do and I know for part of that he enjoyed the peace and quiet since things have not been so good with Amanda lately.  I know there are times I really enjoy just being home alone for awhile.  I am really looking forward to my date with Roger next Friday.

February 21, 2014 Saving Mr. Banks

This morning I suggested to Roger that we invite some couples over tonight and play some games.  He hesitated and then indicated that he had a long week and was very tired and would prefer to not have anyone over because he didn't want to fall asleep or feel like he had to stay up late.
That evening on the way home, Roger asked what we should do that night. Knowing that he didn't want to stay up late and that we were getting home at a good time, that we make a nice dinner together.  We hadn't really had dinner together since Monday night so I thought that would be really nice, especially since we both love to cook.  When we got home we looked at different things to cook and I was singing the song to Mary Poppins for some reason.  Roger suggested we go out to pizza and I suggested we rent the movie Mary Poppins while we were out.
Roger said there was a movie called Saving Mr. Banks that was about the making of Mary Poppins and that we should rent that instead.  Turns out, it doesn't come out to DVD until April, but it was still playing in the discount theatre.  We didn't have time to go out to eat and the theater so we made a quick salad and Roger, Amanda, and I went to the movies. I really enjoyed the show, and I still want to see Mary Poppins :)

February 15, 2014 Brigham Temple

This afternoon Roger and I attended a sealing session in the Brigham temple.  We stopped at Kentucky Fried Chicken on our way out to get something to eat before our session.  The sealing session was really a great experience!  Then we went to DQ for ice cream on our way home.  That evening I did have to finish a school assignment, but the afternoon together was very pleasant.  We also spent much time in conversation about Amanda since she has to make some major changes in her life this week and we discussed the best ways for us to address this with her.  I like working together with him no these things.

February 14, 2014 Valentine's Day

After work we went to the Valentine's dinner and dance at the church.  We were a little late, but still in time that they were still just eating salad.  Tiffany and James Dabb joined us shortly afterwards, they were just a little later than we were.  When the dinner came out, it was not gluten free so I couldn't eat it, but they brought me extra salad and a potato salad.  When dessert was announced, ice cream, Roger didn't want to go get me one, so James Dabb got me one, he even brought back one for Roger and Tiffany and did not eat one for himself.  Things seemed to be going pretty slow there and dancing wasn't really starting.  Tiffany suggested we go to our place and watch a movie.  That was great for me because I was having cramps and could barely move, I was grateful for the suggestion. We came back to the house and popped popcorn.  I chose a movie called All is Lost. Not a great pick and everyone laughed at my bad choice yet again.

February 13, 2014 N.H. Valentine Ball

Neighborhood House Valentines Dinner and Ball
While we may not have spent the evening together, it meant a lot to me that Roger volunteered of his time to help at this big event.  He managed the kitchen, serving up the dinner for all the attendees and helping to manage a group of teenage volunteers who helped him.  Afterwards, he helped to clean up, without a murmur of complaint.  I was grateful for his help and that he spent the time for me, even though I was doing different things that evening and didn't see him a lot.  He did bring me chocolates from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and I was very happy :)

January 31, 2014 - Comedy Sportz Club Provo

Tonight we went to the Comedy Sportz Club off center street in Provo.  A bit of a drive, but I really wanted the show :)  Roger was good to agree.  Roger and Amanda and I drove out after work.  Melissa and Adam and Katie Button and her mom met us out there for the show.  Unfortunately the show was so full we couldn't all sit together.  But the show was as great as I knew it would be.  I was happy. It was good to see Roger and Amanda laughing and really enjoying themselves.
Before the show we were able to have dinner a couple blocks down the road at a Mexican restaurant where we were joined by Roger's niece, Melanie and her boyfriend.  I really enjoyed it.

February 7-8, 2014 - Roger sick...

Roger has been sick all week. He started feeling sick the evening of the comedy show, actually the day before.  But he has really had a hard week and so he has been resting and took Monday and Friday off work.  So we spent some time together watching movies on the couch so he could rest.

January 29, 2014 Kelly Birthday

It was really nice today to stay home from work and just relax!
Roger made me an awesome breakfast in bed of hashbrowns and an omelet that he put this wonderful bbq sauce on and it was fantastic.
We lounged around and watched movies.  Roger got take out from Chili's to eat while we watched Captain Phillips and then had chocolate birthday cake with mint ice cream.
Friday we will go to the comedy club for my day out :)

January 25, 2014 Soup Party

tonight was our Annual Soup Party at our home for friends, neighbors, and anyone else who wants to come :).  I believe this is the fifth year we have done this.

Roger enjoyed the morning with James Dabb in Lehi at an event to learn how to smoke different types of meat.

Roger came home and set up the tables and chairs for the guests while I made soup, broccoli cheddar cheese soup.  It was a fun night to socialize with friends and neighbors while eating soup.  This year attendance: Dabb family, Neighbor who lives across from Dabbs, Briggs family, Ferrin family, Elderdge family, Button family, Austin and Bryson from young mens, and then later in the evening, after most people had left, the Ardizzones came by.  It was nice to visit with everyone.  While I didn't spend a lot of time with Roger, we always enjoy a simple evening of entertaining at the house.

January 24, 2014; Movie Night, Attempt 2

What is with the AMC theater at Layton Hills?  Went there in an attempt to use our free tickets again to see I, Frankenstein.  Once again the movie we went to see was sold out, in fact they were all sold out last night.

We headed home, stopped by Winco on our way, and picked up frozen pizza (for Roger of course) and chicken wings.  We cooked them up with some popcorn and rented Instructions Not Included.  I really loved the show!  It has a surprise ending and a great message.  Sometimes a cuddle on the couch and some snack food is not so bad afterall.

January 18, 2014 Movie Double Date Night

I really had a lot of homework to do today, but Roger was great about being patient and waiting for me to go out on a date.  In efforts to give me more time, he invited James Dabb to come over and cook a really nice dinner for Tiffany and I.  They made steaks with a side of roasted peppers and mushrooms, garlic potatoes, and tomatoes/cucumber/mozzarella salad.  Then they had purchased sticky rice and mangos for a dessert.  It was very good and them cooking at home saved us time and money from going out to eat.

Then we went out to Layton to go to the AMC theater to see Jack Ryan.  It was sold out.  We ended up coming back into Ogden to watch the show at MegaPlex (only we didn't have free tickets there).  Since we had a little time before the movie started, we browsed around Deseret Book, then played a couple games of air hockey at Fat Cats, and then went to see the movie.  I really enjoyed the movie!

We got home almost midnight, and I stayed up until 2:00am finishing my homework...gotta love being in school.

January 17, 2014 Car Show

Tonight we attended the Car Show at the South Town Expo Center.  I got off work a little late because of parent teacher conferences, but we had an enjoyable evening.  I love hearing Roger get all excited about the features of the cars and we dream about owning a new car again when we can afford it soon.  Afterwards, at 10pm, we went to IHOP for a little something to eat.  Roger got a dinner and I just needed to have an ice cream sunday :)

January 11, 2014 Home Show & Gymnastics Competition

After Roger was finished with a new member trip to the temple, we attended the Home Show at the South Town Expo Center and dreamed about changes we could make to our home.  Afterwards, Roger endured through a gymnastics competition with me at the University of Utah as we competed against BYU, Boise State, and USU.  I really enjoyed that :)

Jan 3, 2014 N.H. Holiday Party

We spent the evening at Neighborhood House's staff holiday party.  Dinner and socializing, a little music and then we came home.
